Goofy or Regular: Regular, but trying to kick the habit. Sponsors: Almost, globe, tensor, & matix. Size of Board You Ride: 7 11/16 width. Nose is a little shorter than most; slightly longer wheelbase helps stabilize manuals a bit. Moderate concave, not too flat.
Wheel Size: 50’s, medium width, not too square. Trucks: Tensor LO’s. Favorite Food: I’m kinda into the whole health thing, so it’s too embarrassing to list. Before I skate, for years the ritual is strong black coffee & Clif Bar’s–mmmm. Favorite Color: Mostly the bluish end of the spectrum; there’s a sliver in there somewhere that hits the spot, but I’m not sure the wavelength. Wifey painted the walls yellow– feels pretty good… Favorite Toothpaste: There’s a Tom’s that’s awesome; I think it has a purple logo. No gels, though. Dad was a dentist, so I brush like 4 times a day as I still suffer from post traumatic stress… “If you get a cavity, and I KNOW you will, you’re dead.”
Favorite Soap: That crazy hippie guy that sells it in the bottles with all the ramblings on ‘em– Dr. Bronner’s, I think. One hit too many, but he sure knows soap. 3 Songs To Share: Mercy Seat by Johnny Cash from American III: Solitary Man Cry for Eternity by DragonForce from Inhuman Rampage: Amazing Grace by the Blind Boys of Alabama from Spirit of the Century. 2 Cool Skateboard Video: I always like watching Baker III, especially Dustin’s part with the way it opens. Paul’s part in Forecast still amazes me, too. He’s really, really gifted. You know they’re good when you keep going back to them. Favorite Show’s To Watch: All those old black & white Twilight Zones are somehow soothing to me. That’s a box set worth having. I think it’s the time frame, how simple it was back then, mapped onto how brilliant Rod Serling was. I haven’t actually watched shows for years, so I’m kinda stuck here; I just have tons of DVD’s that I go over and over. So much goes into movies… Something People Don’t Know About You: Since I was like 9, I’ve studied the Bible twice a day and pray just as much. I keep it low key, but it’s really my core– always has been. Why Skateboarding: Because I can do it my own way, on my own, yet still feel like I belong to something. Never felt like I belonged anywhere else… I love skateboarding. How High Can You Ollie: Not as high as I’d like. What Are Your Warm Up Tricks To Get Loose: Just goofy junk. There are these speed bumps where I skate a lot at night, and I always find myself doing switch manuals over ‘em in a U-turn: go up one side, then right back over to where I started. Backside sucks. I really long switch b/s 5-0’s on these overgrown curbs– just a good feeling. 3 Favorite Places to Shop: Borders & Fry’s Electronics. Don’t really have a third… Hmmm. Home Depot is cool just walking around in. Favorite Restaurant: Rocky Cola by my house. Something Everybody Must Have: Health insurance, a skateboard, a dog, a bad ass computer, a library, and a good friend. Right Handed or Left Handed: Confused. I write right-handed, but most everything else I do left, and some things like golf I can’t quite decide– I’m lame either way. Even with forks, it depends what I’m eating… Script or Print Writing: Confused. I mix it all up in no real uniform way. I’d hate for one of those handwriting analysts to get ahold of it… Clean Up Yourself or Call a Maid: My car is a junk-pile, skate mobile with crap everywhere. House isn’t too bad. I’m not quite a pig, but mildly messy, overall. Do You Believe in Aliens or Ghost’s: Ghosts for sure, and I think something is definitely going on UFO-wise, though I don’t believe they’re little green men from another galaxy. Mac or PC: No loyalty to any of them; use each for what it does best. I get bummed on the smug mac culture, so I don’t commit to identifying myself with ‘em even though that’s what I use as the mother ship. Apple is so fascist about their hardware, making us all clones; they seem all into creative individuality, yet they make everybody use the same computer– ironic and lame. Linux community RULES: they’re like the skaters of the computer world. I identify with Linux most, buying their mag’s and stuff, although it’s way behind OSX. Even though Windows doesn’t seem as good overall and has all its security issues, it’s better for a lot of stuff than Linux & OSX, especially for games and tweaking hardware– making custom systems, etc… There’s a lot of hacking stuff for PC’s online, and most of that literature is PC or Linux orientated, so I still use ‘em a lot. I have like a dozen computers that I’m always tinkering with, swapping video cards and stuff… Nerd pride. Boxers or Tighty Whities: Boxers. 4 Movies We Should Rent: There are soooo many… First ones off the top of my head: Ghost Busters, Happy Gilmore, The Big Lebowski, Shaun of the Dead. 2 Cool Books Everybody Should Read: I read a lot, and I got a lot of nerd in me, so… Hard to say… It sounds geeky or whatever to list what really has affected me. Don’t take this the wrong way, is what I’m trying to say, as though I’m trying to be “smart guy” or whatever– I’m not. “The Creator Beyond Time & Space” by Missler/Eastman really changed the way I thought about a lot of things. It’s really accessible on its level. I love how this woman thinks, though it’s a nerd book and scholarly sounding, it’s straight forward as that material goes: “How is Quantum Field Theory Possible,” by Sunny Auyang. On one hand, she shuts down so much crazy extrapolation and exploitation that people make about the physical world, while at the same time she opens your mind to the absolutely amazing world that we really live in yet never acknowledge. Another, a third, that’s more accessible without a lot of college-boy background is “Hostage to the Devil” by Dr. Malchai Martin. No matter what you believe in, that book rocks. Kept me awake at night for like a month. “When a Child Kills” by Paul Mones is harsh material, but it’s profound and important. I’ve been really affected by his work, seeing the kind of person he is (a friend) and how he’s tried to help kids that have never had anything but abuse. OK, so that’s 4 books, I know…
Favorite Cell Phone: I got the new Boost i885– stoked on it. Favorite Place To Vacation: Italy, for sure. Italians know how to live. What’s Your Current Ring Tone: This rotten burp that comes with that Boost phone. My wife has this screaming chimp that’s pretty cool, too. Favorite Vegetable: Collard Greens. Southern roots, indeed. What’s Your Favorite Snack: I could mow down a field of grapes.Share A Quote With Us: Hmm, there’s all kinds of profound & scholarly quotes out there, but one of the ones that always comes back in everyday life is the good ol’ simple, “In for a penny, in for a pound.”
